APPLIED KINESIOLOGY CHIROPRACTIC

- Opening doors into functional health -

Any idea how much information is flying around your nervous system as you read this?? Well... neither do I really -- but it's a whole lot! In addition to the specific jobs your body's cells, organs, and glands are doing 24/7, they're all talking to each other too. And I've spent 26 years learning how to eavesdrop on the conversation.

We know that our 21st Century diet is nutritionally bankrupt. So just imagine what can go wrong in a body that Mother Nature designed to be fueled and repaired by the foods we eat! Applied Kinesiology is a system of diagnosis that uses manual muscle testing to analyze what “fuses” are blown in the body's communication network, and how to go about repairing them. WOW!! This stuff still excites me after all these years.

A thorough explanation of AK is not the point of this newsletter. Let's just say that, at the core, all communication occurs at an energetic (vibrational, electrical, if you will) level. Physical, chemical/nutritional, or emotional imbalances always cause energetic “short circuits”, which are reflected in abnormal muscle test results. AK allows the experienced doctor of chiropractic to locate areas of imbalance, and to provide appropriate treatment – including chiropractic manipulation, specific nutritional recommendations, exercise, etc.

For example...

Under-active” thyroid is common in this country! Americans spent TWO BILLION DOLLARS on thyroid medications last year! Synthetic thyroid hormone (Synthroid, Levoxyl, Levothyroid, etc.) can help the symptoms, but does nothing to actually “heal” or “fix” the gland.

The Teres Minor muscle (of the shoulder), is associated energetically with the thyroid gland. An under-active thyroid gland will be reflected in a “weakness” of this muscle when evaluated by manual muscle testing.

There are many possible reasons for any muscle weakness, and for thyroid dysfunction. But in the majority of hypothyroid cases I've seen in practice, AK reveals specific nutritional deficiencies as contributors to, or indeed the cause of the problem . The mineral iodine, for example, is crucial in thyroid hormone production. Insufficient iodine → hypo-thyroid. Simple as that. Appropriate nutritional supplementation is sometimes the entire answer.

Here's a fun test:

Paint a quarter-size patch of iodine (available at any pharmacy) on your forearm, and take note of how long it takes to disappear. Absorbed in 3 hours?.. your thyroid gland is probably really craving it. On the other hand, if there's still a shadow visible at least 24 hours later – you're probably good to go.

Or try this:

When you first awaken in the morning (before you even get out of bed), place a thermometer under your arm (in the arm pit).  Keep a record of this morning axillary temperature for perhaps 10-14 days.  Normal readings should run between 97.8 and 98.2 degrees.  Anything lower suggests some under-activity of the thyroid.  I routinely see patients with numbers in the 96's, 95's and even some 93's.  If you have complaints of things like sluggishness, chronically cold fingers, weight gain, hair falling out in the shower... don't be surprised if your temps are low too.

The body has an incredible ability to heal itself with the right nutritional building blocks. Literally hundreds of my patients have been able to reduce or eliminate thyroid and other medications after full assessment and appropriate changes in diet, along with supplementation. Wouldn't it be nice to find that you may be able to do the same??

Again, I've barely scratched the surface of Applied Kinesiology here. I invite you to browse my website, and If you have any questions about how I may be able to help you address any of your health concerns,  please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email :))

In vibrant health,
